About this Collection:
I've provided something of a broad sampling of styles and subjects. As with my writing, my subjects are varied and run the gamut from the natural world, landscapes, abandoned buildings and vehicles, flower studies (usually the deader or flamboyantly dying the better) and wildlife when and if it involves rabbits. With the exception of the two New Mexico photos, all were taken in Kansas and most within 150 miles of Blue Rapids, where I live with my wife, Lori.
Biography
Tom Parker, a native of West Texas, has worked as a warehouseman, heating and refrigeration technician, security guard, burglar alarm repairman, journalist and freelance writer. His newspaper articles and columns have won numerous awards, including the prestigious Burton W. Marvin Kansas News Enterprise Award for 2009. His interest in photography began in 1973 when he bought a chintzy Kodak 135 camera that took horrendously bad photos. Since then, he’s been on a lifelong quest for technical excellence, much to the dismay of his wife, Lori, and their financial stability.
He and his wife live on the outskirts of Blue Rapids, Kansas, a town so small it doesn’t even have a blinking light. It does, however, have a great many wild rabbits, for which he is eternally thankful.
